Youker 8/25/2010, I did the Canaan to Lebanon 13.5 miles one way in an hour and a half on 8/24/2010 of this wonderful unpaved trail along the Mascoma River and Lake. The ride was done late in the summer which was a poor choice as it was very hot and sunny. A true recreation trail for all ages and abilities. There was not one piece of litter anywhere. Until 1650, the area of East Haddam was inhabited by at least three tribes of Indians: the Wangunks, the Mohegans and the Nehantics. The surface of the trail is crushed gravel and easily ridden with a hybrid or mountain bike. The maximum depth is 73 feet. We plan to go back and give it another try. My wife and I ( the slowskis) biked this trail round trip from Lebanon ( parking - riverside road lot) to Enfield ( 8 miles, round trip) ) in July 2013 in 2 hrs 45 min. Approximately 24 miles to Lebanon and 31 miles to Boscawen. We have tadpole recumbent trikes that have 16" slick tires which were not the perfect tires for the dirt pack surface but it was ok.
